Features & Benefits

From E to F: top news More engine power and higher fuel efficiency, longer service intervals and new advanced functions are just some of the improvements coming in the F-generation of straight boom excavator.

From E to F: top news

Fans of Volvo straight boom excavators will notice a range of improvements compared to E-generation. Starting with the optimized positioning of water spraying nozzles, which have been moved toward the front of the arm to capture the dust at the earliest stage and boost visibility. The size of the X1 return line is bigger for faster attachment movements, increasing productivity. And the demolition excavator can now benefit from the Dig Assist suite of apps, including Boundary Limits, In-Field Design and On-Board Weighing. What’s more, the base machine receives the same upgrade as conventional F-generation excavator: up to 14% higher fuel efficiency, a 10% increase in engine power and +1,000hr service interval on hydraulic oil and return filter. It also boasts a new cab that makes for a more comfortable and productive operator environment. All thanks to features such as auto power boost, boom and arm bouncing reduction, plus the ability to adjust boom down speed or customize boom/swing and boom/travel priority.

Reach, stability, ease of transport

7-meter (23 feet for North America) straight boom and dedicated arm come fully equipped for top productivity. Completed by the addition of a heavier counterweight to boost stability yet remain easy to transport.

Heavy removable counterweight

While at work the heavy counterweight provides outstanding stability, and when on the move, the counterweight is hydraulically removable allowing for easy transportation. The counterweight is also available with optional LED lighting.

Dust suppression system The unique Volvo system captures dust, removing the need for a separate truck for pumping water.

Dust suppression system

Four nozzles fitted on the arm create a fine mist which encapsulates the dust, powered by a 30 liters per minute hydraulic pump. Operators can select between Auto or Manual mode – with water only sprayed when the attachment is operating when in Auto mode. The system can also be used for cleaning the machine, with a high-pressure water gun mounted behind the cab.

High visibility, protected cab Industry renowned Volvo Care Cab comfort combines additional features to enhance safety and visibility.
