Paving the way for zero emissions

We are expanding our portfolio of electric machines to the road segment with the Volvo DD25 Electric asphalt compactor. It is a zero-exhaust emission solution for small scale compaction projects including street repairs and patching, parking lots, driveways, municipalities and rental houses. With the introduction of this electric compact double-drum roller, we continue to lead the way with innovations that help customers reduce their total cost of ownership and carbon footprint – while maintaining high productivity and uptime.

Features & Benefits

Zero-emission operation Its zero-emission operation makes the DD25 Electric ideal for sensitive or urban environments with strict emission regulations and for organizations which are looking to meet their own sustainability goals.

Zero-emission operation

Zero tailpipe emissions also mean a cleaner and more enjoyable work environment for operators, site teams and passers-by. If used alongside other Volvo electric powered equipment – such as the EC18 Electric, ECR18 Electric and the ECR25 Electric compact excavators, the larger EC230 Electric excavator, or the L25 Electric and L20 Electric compact wheel loaders – this latest powerhouse in the range offers customers the opportunity for a completely zero-emission workplace.

Proven technology The DD25 Electric benefits from the same jobsite proven architecture and components found on the Volvo ECR25 Electric compact excavator and the L25 Electric compact wheel loader.

Proven technology

The electric driveline of the DD25 Electric is based on the same established architecture and components found on the Volvo ECR25 Electric compact excavator and L25 Electric compact wheel loader – the first electric machines introduced to the construction market by Volvo CE and proving a success across jobsites around the world since 2020.

High performance Combining the reliable and recognized Volvo Asphalt Compactor platform with battery power, the DD25 Electric offers 24 kW of available power, 30% more than the conventional Volvo DD25B.

High performance

The battery electric double-drum machine has more available power than its diesel counterpart, providing improved on-grade performance and operation at high altitudes where naturally aspirated diesel engines lose power.

Reliable charging Designed to operate for a full shift on a single charge, depending on the type of job and intensity of the work cycle, the DD25 Electric can be powered up in as quick as one hour.

Reliable charging

The DD25 Electric has the same charging solutions as its forerunners, the ECR25 Electric compact excavator and the L25 Electric compact wheel loader. It comes with an integrated on-board charger which enables charging from 0 to 100% in as little as three hours, depending on AC power level. With an optional off-board DC fast charger, this can be achieved in as little as an hour – offering a practical solution to top-up the machine’s charge during a lunch break.

Reduced maintenance With no engine to service and maintenance-free batteries and motors, maintenance requirements are reduced, saving time and money.

Reduced maintenance

Electric machines require hardly any maintenance when compared to a diesel variant – helping customers lower total cost of ownership. Another advantage for electric equipment like the DD25 Electric is that the machines shut off when not in use, so operators do not accumulate idle hours as could happen with a diesel machine.
