What makes the L120H even better than Gz and F-generations? It starts with a higher tipping load, more powerful engine, upgraded transmission, new ignition strategy and electro-servo controls.

Top news

The L120H boasts 6% higher tipping load and can tip higher than the outgoing Gz model, for example into taller-bodied trucks or in storage areas. It also features a Volvo engine delivering 6% more power and torque than the F-generation. For ultimate efficiency, the Volvo Wheel Loader comes with a new transmission that can be equipped with OptiShift. There is also a new rimpull control function, providing better drive into piles when loading and increasing hill climbing performance, thereby cutting unnecessary fuel consumption and tire wear. What’s more, operators can now benefit from the optional Load Assist suite of apps, powered by the Volvo Co-Pilot tablet. Standard electric servo controls offer a greater degree of control and customisation, while an all-new ignition strategy is designed to make their lives easier. Just as in Volvo articulated haulers, the ignition key now activates and powers the machine, with no need to turn on the ground-level Main Switch at the start of shifts, before climbing into the cab. Quite apart from offering added convenience to operators on start-up and shutdown, it also removes the risk of the battery running flat overnight because the Main Switch has been left on.

High torque at low engine speeds, Eco pedal and optional OptiShift help reduce unnecessary fuel consumption and move more tons per liter.

Optishift

For improved cycle times and greater fuel efficiency, customize the lock-up engagement of your machine, with OptiShift. The technology integrates the Reverse By Braking function and a torque converter with lock-up, creating a direct drive between the engine and transmission.

Reverse By Braking

Extend the life of your machine’s components and increase operator comfort with Reverse By Braking (RBB) – patented by Volvo. The braking function slows the machine when the operator wants to change direction, by reducing engine rpm and automatically applying the service brakes, reducing stress on the drivetrain as well as fuel consumption.

Power up, fuel down

Built on decades of experience and featuring the most advanced technology, the powerful Volvo engine delivers high torque at low rpm, for superior performance. Other options include an automatic engine shutdown facility, which reduces fuel consumption when idling beyond a set time, and a delayed engine shutdown feature, which allows the turbocharger to cool, thereby reducing wear.

Eco pedal

What applications is the l120h for?

For strength in demanding applications, Volvo’s unique Torque Parallel linkage provides high breakout torque and ultimate parallel movement throughout the entire lifting range. The linkage offers stability during loading and carrying and allows easy filling of the buckets. For long lasting performance, the lifting arm has double sealing on each of the pins. Take on a range of applications with purpose-built attachments. Form one solid and reliable unit, with attachments that are ideally matched by size and design to your machine’s parameters – including link-arm geometry, breakout and lifting forces. And if we don’t have the right attachment, Volvo can custom build one to your specific requirements.

Is the l120h easy to operate?

The Volvo wheel loader boasts a bright, ergonomic and clever cab. Electric servo controls allow a high degree of customization, boom and bucket levelling functions and a choice of three hydraulic response modes. With the optional Comfort Drive Control, the machine can be steered from a lever – particularly useful for fast-paced truck loading operations. Attached to the seat, the adjustable armrest and levers make it easy to find exactly the right position.

Visibility

To enhance visibility, the H-series wheel loaders have new rear-view mirrors and can be equipped with a rear-view camera. Optimized by the radar detect system, which works with the camera to give a visual and audible alert to the operator of unseen on-coming objects. Orange handrails and steps have been placed on the machine, intended to stand out to the operators and maintenance staff.

Comfort Drive Control

To reduce operator fatigue and improve productivity, Comfort Drive Control can be optionally integrated into your machine. The smart function gives you the opportunity to steer the machine from a small lever – particularly effective for fast-paced truck loading operations.

How about uptime?

The Volvo Wheel Loader offers unrestricted access to vital components: the engine hood opens electronically, the tilting cab is operated hydraulically to either a 30º or 70º angle, and the cooler installation slides out. Wear indicators placed by the wheels make it easy to check the condition of the brakes. The engine features an electric pump for priming the fuel system, making the procedure quicker and more convenient than with a manual pump.

Durable by design

Designed with durability in mind, the H-series wheel loaders are built with a strong frame structure, ideally-matched to Volvo powertrain. The hydraulically-driven cooling fan regulates component temperature and can be automatically reversed to permit self-cleaning of the cooling units. For long service life, the brakes are outboard mounted and the front and rear axles are cooled by the oil circulation.
