A leading dairy company in the United Arab Emirates has been getting to grips with the Volvo ECR25 Electric excavator, the first in a new range of electric compact excavators to be launched in the Middle East, and has been impressed with the machine’s size, versatility, and alignment with the company’s own sustainability initiatives.
Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) continues to lead the charge in sustainable construction solutions for the Middle East with the Volvo ECR25 Electric compact excavator, a machine designed to improve the way companies approach environmental responsibility.
One of the early adopters of this technology is Al Rawabi, a leading dairy and juice company in the United Arab Emirates. Al Rawabi has successfully integrated the ECR25 Electric excavator into its Dubai-based operations, and in doing so has furthered a company-wide commitment to sustainability without compromising efficiency and productivity.
The machine was supplied by FAMCO, the official dealer partner for Volvo CE in UAE, who will work alongside the OEM to bring more electric machines to the region over the coming years.
Dr. Suhair Saad, Al Rawabi’s environmental consultant, emphasises the ECR25 Electric’s alignment with the company's green initiatives. "At Rawabi Dairy, environmental protection and sustainability are at the core of our values," Dr. Saad says. "We're excited about this machine because it significantly reduces our emissions, and we've seen tangible cost savings in our composting operations."
A small machine making a big difference
The Volvo ECR25 Electric offers between two to four hours of run time, depending on application, and its 48V lithium-ion, maintenance-free battery is designed to deliver up to 2000 full charge cycles. The ECR25 Electric's compact size has also proven to be another advantage. The machine’s overall width measures just 5ft 1in (1,550 mm), and an overall length between 13ft 2in – 12ft 9in (4,008 - 3,876 mm) (short/long arm).
"The machine is perfectly sized for our operations, yet it performs at the same capacity as our larger machines,” adds Dr. Saad.
The ECR25 Electric features a zero-tail swing radius design, making it ideal to work in confined spaces. And thanks to zero emissions, the need for costly fumes extraction systems is eliminated in indoor jobs, such as Al Rawabi’s greenhouses and sheltered harvesting and crop applications required for its dairy operations. This capability ensures companies such as Al Rawabi can meet operational demands while minimising environmental impact.
"We are grateful to Volvo and FAMCO for the opportunity to use this innovative equipment," Dr. Saad adds. "And we look forward to continuing our partnership and hopefully expanding our fleet with more electric machines in the near future."
The Volvo ECR25 Electric compact excavator is part of the equipment manufacturer’s broader initiative to provide eco-friendly construction solutions that meet the growing global demand for sustainability. A partnership with Volvo CE and the attached heritage and expertise is a step towards a more sustainable industry. As Al Rawabi’s application experience demonstrates, the ECR25 Electric offers companies an effective way to reduce emissions without having to sacrifice performance.
