The Pennock family firm in 1875 became involved with road building equipment. Samuel Pennock went on to streamline the scraper idea and invented and patented the first four wheeled road scraper which was dubbed 'the American Champion' in June of 1877.
In 1928 the graders became truly motorised when the tractor was moved to the back and built in.
From a humble start in 1875, Champion motor graders were developed into international reputation for performance and reliability in over 95 countries.
In 1997 Champion was purchased by Volvo Construction Equipment and in 2001 the first Volvo motor graders were introduced.
