In August 2009 the engine installations for the Volvo SD45D and SD45F were updated to meet regulatory emissions standards. The new turbo charged 4-cylinder engine in the SD45D and SD45F increased power from 59,7 kW (80 hp) to 63 kW (84,5 hp) for superior performance. The new engine installations ensured that these compactors continued to be environmentally friendly.
In 2013 the line of soil compactors has been restructured to simplify model designations as Volvo expands the product range to include Tier4i / Stage 3b compactors, and to align with the product designation policy.
The new nomenclature has been simplified to create a single designation for each model family. Suffix’s have also been removed from product names, and features such as “D” and “F” have become selectable options instead of standalone model designations.
