Designers and engineers from Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) walked the red carpet this week to collect the coveted ‘red dot: best of the best’ product design award at a ceremony in Essen, Germany.
Volvo’s A40F articulated hauler beat thousands of international products from 58 countries to win the globally recognised seal of quality for outstanding design achievement. Of the 4,515 entries, only the 60 most innovative works received a red dot: best of the best product design award.
Volvo CE’s design director Stina Nilimaa Wickström and design leader Jan Löfgren proudly accepted the award. “It’s fantastic that the quality and ingenuity of the Volvo design has been recognized by the red dot jury,” says Stina. “To win a red dot: best of the best award is a great honor and I speak on behalf of the entire company when I say that we’re all extremely proud to have this accolade bestowed on us. Winning one of the world’s most sought-after labels of industrial design quality symbolizes the company’s creativity, hard work and team spirit.”
The red dot: best of the best award is presented for groundbreaking design and is the top prize, reserved for the leading products in each category. The A40F was judged by a panel of design experts who thoroughly examined and tested each entry. The evaluation criteria included quality, innovation, durability and ecological compatibility.
Volvo CE’s A40F articulated hauler is the flagship of the company’s market leading and innovative F-Series range of haulers. The hauler maneuvers, travels and dumps its load in the most efficient and safest way and is more fuel efficient than the previous E-Series model which, until now, was the class leader for low fuel consumption.
