Despite its small stature, the EC18D compact excavator from Volvo Construction Equipment offers big league break out and tear out forces.
Volvo EC18D: small size, bigger muscles

Fitted with an efficient D0.9A Volvo engine, the EC18D compact excavator from Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) is built to work in tough conditions, delivering superior performance that lasts. With impressive lifting capacities and excellent digging forces (tear out force 8.5 kN, breakout force 15.1 kN), the compact excavator can handle a variety of jobs. Based on a proven design, the EC18D is ideal for tight working conditions and can be used on restricted jobsites, while reducing risk of damage to the machine and its surroundings. The standard boom offset allows working flush against obstacles and helps to maintain visibility when working in tight conditions. Thanks to the optimized digging equipment, this powerful compact excavator can stretch further, dig deeper and reach higher. Combining durability and ease of operation with serviceability and versatility, this compact excavator ensures maximum productivity in a range of applications.

Durable by design

Built to last, the EC18D can take on big jobs in demanding environments thanks to its durable design and built-in features. A tough rear counterweight provides both outstanding impact resistance and shields vital components, while at the same time remaining unobtrusive.

To withstand harsh environments, the swing frame, boom and arm ends are casted for stress distribution, while hardened pins and bushings secure pivot points for minimum wear. The lifting cylinder is located on top of the boom, reducing risk of damage, while hydraulic hoses are routed through the boom for the ultimate durability.

The dozer blade features a reinforced cutting edge for superior wear resistance and a strong curved upper lip for added protection against damage in tough applications. This sturdy structure ensures outstanding performance whether dozing, back filling or using the blade as a stabilizer. With fully protected hydraulics and a strong, reinforced dozer blade, the EC18D is designed to work harder for longer.

Operate with ease

The compact excavator is equipped with a spacious FOPS & ROPS canopy, featuring excellent protection and all-round visibility. The superior vibration insulation and the ergonomically positioned controls offer a comfortable and productive work environment. The sturdy handrails and a safe three-point-access through the large left entry allows for easier ingress and egress.

Even in tight spaces, the operator can maneuver the machine smoothly and precisely using the ergonomic joystick, while intuitive fingertip controls offers precise boom offset adjustment. The standard automatic two speed travel system allows for fast machine repositioning and the optional auxiliary hydraulics enables effective hydraulic breaker operation, boosting versatility and profitability.

When traveling between jobsites, the 1,770 kg EC18D is the operator’s choice, thanks to its convenient lifting and tie down points. While in transit, an automatic swing brake stops the machine from rotating, ensuring the machine arrives at its destination safe and sound.

Serviceability made simple

As the best in class for fast and easy maintenance, the EC18D compact excavator has built-in service features to reduce costs and maximize uptime. 50-hour greasing intervals help save time and money, while daily service points can be worked on from ground level. The wide-opening lockable engine hood also provides easy access to checkpoints, grouped together for added convenience.

Highly versatile

To maximize machine uptime, the EC18D compact excavator offers versatility to tackle any application. When accessing narrow spaces, the robust undercarriage can be reduced to 994 mm, extending to 1,336 mm for maximum stability and performance.

Customers can choose from a wide variety of high quality attachments, including hydraulic breakers and buckets. Well-engineered to withstand the toughest conditions, buckets are reinforced with Volvo self-sharpening teeth, which are easy to replace if damaged, and wear parts that ensure a long lasting performance.

With the one-stop shop approach, Volvo’s aftersales services can support the complete machine with all spare parts and a broad range of attachments. Volvo offers a comprehensive range of Customer Solutions to ensure its compact excavators achieve maximum uptime and generates profit and growth for their owners.
