Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) is an inaugural member of the newly formed Bauma Charity Alliance (BCA), and the company helped launch the initiative at a press dialog event held at the Bauma exhibition in Munich earlier this month.
The BCA is the brainchild of Bauma show organizer Messe München, with the objective highlighting and encouraging the construction equipment industry’s work in combating hunger and poverty, and in promoting education and the environment in the Third World. It will do this by forming a network and presentation platform, helping to draw attention to the CSR commitments of companies within the construction equipment industry. In addition, the BCA hopes to promote dialogue between members and attract more interested parties to become active participants.
Volvo CE’s senior vice president of corporate communications Bill Law joined a distinguished panel of industry figures at the media dialog event, which also involved distributing factsheets and press information on members and supporting projects.
"The Charity Alliance is a great opportunity that Bauma has taken to bring together the industry and communicate what is being done and to encourage more activity in the area of charitable initiatives,” commented Mr. Law (pictured). “As a global business we have a tremendous opportunity to foster sustainable development and help improve the lives of underprivileged people worldwide.”
In addition to Volvo CE, other leading companies currently involved in the BCA include: Caterpillar Inc., Atlas Copco, AUMUND Fördertechnik, MAN, Pilosio, Terex Latin America, Wirtgen, Zeppelin Baumaschinen and ZF Friedrichshafen.
