The VOLVO x HACK SPRINT is the first Volvo Construction Equipment and Volvo Group Connected Solutions hackathon that brings together multidisciplinary teams of three-to-five members in Gothenburg, Sweden, 23-26 Nov to hunt for the next big innovation in image intelligence.

Who it is for

Are you an engineer, developer or designer with a passion for mobile apps, computer vision and data science? No matter if you’re a student or a startup, build and demo your innovative solutions that help customers inspect machines using nothing more than their smartphones!

Note: In case you are unable to put together a team before the hackathon, you will get the opportunity to do so on the first day of the event.

Why you should apply

Apply by 02 Nov to join other image intelligence enthusiasts for a weekend of hacking to have real world impact solving a real world problem. All meals and beverages will be provided during the hackathon for free. Although all participants will get a prize, the winning teams will win some of the latest tech gadgets.

Real world challenge

An image taken with a smartphone contains more than 12 million pixels that are building blocks of information. Essentially, images are data visualisations and a digital image is a big data set in itself. With the right algorithms we can extract this information from images and generate meaningful data for machine learning and artificial intelligence.

We believe image intelligence can help generate meaningful data for customers on their machines and help them take proactive actions.

How to win

There are three categories of prizes:

#1 Best Hack – awarded to the team that solves the real world problem the best
#2 Best Build – awarded to the team that builds the most deployable solution
#3 Participation – all teams will get a prize to celebrate their commitment and passion
