Features & Benefits

Flexible and reliable mobile power Whether a weak grid or no grid access at all, find out how the PU500 can bring flexible and mobile charging to your operations.

Flexible and reliable mobile power

The PU500 enables machine fast charging where no grid access is available and also features the addition of a 63A socket and upgraded power output for higher-power equipment. When connected to the grid, the PU500 will provide the necessary power to provide fast charging to your machines and vehicles, even when grid infrastructure is not equipped to do so. This removes the need to upgrade grid infrastructure as being a barrier to the electrification of your operations.

Easy to transport

With fork holes on two sides of the unit, transportation is easy – without the need for long forks – ensuring you get on-site power where you need it most.

Safe and robust

Designed with in-house developed battery packs and fire and gas detection, improved gas evacuation and secure remote monitoring for maximum safety.

Intelligent design

The design features flat sides, doors with Volvo CE key-enabled locks and improved cable management for the CCS2 charger. LED lights enhance visibility for the AC inlet, DC cables and the area in front of the unit. Red and green status lights on all four sides ensure visibility of the status of the unit from a distance. All controls are placed outside, eliminating the need to enter unless for inspection or service.

Smart and connected

Monitor and control the PU500 remotely via a mobile app. Functionality will be built in CareTrack for enhanced fleet management of your PU500 and operators can easily see basic information on their PU500 using the My Equipment App.

How does it work? Find out essential information about how the PU500 power unit works and how to charge it.

How does it work?

The PU500 is a mobile battery energy storage system designed to deliver reliable, flexible power to sites with limited or no grid access. With an upgraded 540 kWh battery capacity and an integrated 240 kW DC fast charger, the PU500 enables rapid charging of Volvo and non-Volvo electric machines, trucks and cars. Tools and other electric equipment can also be powered via multiple three-phase or one-phase outputs.

How is the unit charged?

The PU500 can be charged from the grid using a 32A, 63A or 125A connection, with charging times of 14, 10.5 hours and 5 hours, respectively. Slow charging during off-peak hours is the most cost-effective method to charge the power unit, allowing the unit to be utilized to charge electric machines during costlier peak times.

Are special plugs needed?

A 125A CEE cable is required, with adapters needed for 32A or 63A connections. All Volvo electric machines come with AC cables, therefore special plugs to charge them are not needed. No plugs are needed for DC charging machines either, this is because a CCS2 DC charging plug and charging plug for Volvo Compact machines are integrated into the PU500.

Flexible charging options

The PU500 features a 240kW DC fast charger for large electric machines and trucks (Volvo and non-Volvo) and a 17kW DC fast charger (48V) for Volvo compact machines. It also offers AC outlets for slow charging various electric machines, trucks and the use of electric tools. These AC outlets support additional charging solutions like the PU40 or a 17kW DC fast charger, providing flexible charging options.
