How long does it take to charge the power unit?

PU500 can be charged from the grid using 32A, 63A or 125A connection.   Charging times will vary depending on outlet available. With a 32A outlet, the charging will take 15 hours, with 63A it will take 8 hours and with 125A it will take 6 hours.

Are special plugs required?

125A CEE charging cable is required to charge PU500 from the grid. If only 32A or 63A connections are available, it will be necessary to acquire an adapter. All Volvo electric machines come with an AC charging cable, therefore special plugs to charge them are not needed. No plugs are needed for DC charging machines either because CC2 DC charging plug is integrated to PU500.

How does the PU500 power unit work?

Here you can see how you can charge your mobile power unit PU500 from Volvo and how you can use the energy stored in the power unit to charge your electric construction machines, electric trucks, other charging solutions and working tools.

Slow charging the unit

The power unit can be charged slowly from the grid with 32A, 62A or 125A connection. This is the most cost-effective method for charging up the power unit during off-peak periods. In this way customers can save up energy within the unit to charge their electric machines during peak times, when power direct from the grid is more expensive.

Fast charging machines and trucks

The PU500 has an integrated 240kW DC fast charger and can charge large electric machines and electric trucks, both Volvo and non-Volvo. The power unit has also an integrated 17kW DC fast charger (48V) for charging Volvo electric compact machines.

Slow charging

AC outlets are available to slow charge both Volvo and non-Volvo large and compact electric machines, electric trucks and electric tools as well. On the same AC outlets, it is possible to connect different charging solutions like PU40 or even 17kW DC fast charger.
