Safety is built into every design element of Volvo machines, helping ensure working shifts end without a hitch.
The cab door and front window on Volvo excavators are easily closed from a seated position. A wider wiping area provides greater visibility than competitors, and Volvo cab windows offer multiple locking positions to prevent slipping. Many competitor machines require standing and bending outside to close the cab door and have larger blind spots in the wiper area.
Volvo excavators allow for two lights on the frame, two on the roof, four on the boom, one on the rear and one on the counterweight. These can all be separately set up through the in-cab monitor. Many competitors allow for a maximum of only five exterior lights, and rarely do they allow the lighting to be set up via the in-cab monitor.
For added safety and durability, excavators can be ordered with optional FOG (Falling Object Guard) and FOPS (Falling Object Protective Structure) cabs to provide peace-of-mind for working in tough applications. EC220EL models and up can also be fitted with a full length track guard for added protection.
