AK Evans Earthmoving, a family owned equipment contractor with more than 50 years of experience, recently expanded its fleet with the purchase of four EC350D excavators from Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE).
The EC350D crawler excavator is has an operating weight of between 34,300 kg and 38,700 kg, depending on configuration. Power comes from a fuel-efficient Volvo D8 engine with a 210 kW rating, while bucket capacity can be up to 2.53 m3. The excavator delivers fast cycle times, high digging power, and low fuel consumption.
AK Evans Earthmoving, which is based in Port Hedland, West Australia, purchased the excavators from Volvo CE’s exclusive Australian distribution partner CJD Equipment.
“We recruited CJD Equipment to paint the new Volvo EC350D excavators in blue to support better mental health awareness in the workplace,” said Aaron Evans, managing director of AK Evans Earthmoving.
The company has committed to donating $1 per hour the machine works to Beyond Blue, an Australian organization that offers information and support on depression, anxiety and suicide prevention to people across the country. In addition to painting the EC350D excavators blue, Beyond Blue’s logo and contact number are also listed on the machines to help spread awareness.
“I know it doesn’t sound like much, but when you count the amount of machines that will be painted and they all work approximately 2,000 hours per year then it starts to add up to a generous donation,” Evans said. “In addition to this, we will be asking the hirer of the machine to price match the $1 per hour worked which will double the donation to Beyond Blue.”
AK Evans Earthmoving has a fleet of 16 Volvo earthmoving machines, all purchased from CJD Equipment, and expects to add more in the future.
“We have a great working relationship with CJD Equipment,” Evans said. “The team are very helpful and provide assistance where needed in a timely manner.”
