Panchakanya Group (PK Group) is one of Nepal’s leading industrial trading houses, with an annual turnover in excess of USD 40m. Headquartered in the country’s capital of Kathmandu, the company recently added Explore Earth Moving P. Ltd – previously a used equipment dealer – to its portfolio of trading wings as it became the national distributor of Volvo Construction Equipment’s (Volvo CE) full range of excavators, wheel loaders, articulated haulers, road machinery and other construction equipment.
Director of Explore Earth Moving, Er. Sushil Shrestha, who has over 14 years’ experience in the construction equipment industry, says: “Nepal is a unique market that presents some interesting prospects. The government is investing in road building and other infrastructure developments, while the hydropower industry is also presenting new opportunities. These projects require good quality, reliable machinery, with the aftermarket support to keep the machines running. In partnership with Volvo CE, this is something we can deliver.”Nepal is the world’s second most abundant country in terms of inland water resources thanks to a total water surface of over 818,000 Ha. The country has the potential to generate over 727,000 GW-hours of electrical energy with increased investment and the construction of new hydropower operations.
As part of the new agreement, Volvo CE will deliver training to Explore Earth Movers’ salespeople and service technicians. David Choo, business director for Nepal at Volvo CE, says: “We are thrilled to announce our new national distributor in Nepal. Our intention is to build up the business gradually, taking care of existing customers, further developing our aftermarket offering in partnership with Explore Earth Moving and identifying projects where our equipment can be most beneficial.”
