In 2023, Singapore became the first country in Southeast Asia to receive electric construction equipment from Volvo CE, marking a significant step toward sustainable construction. Today, Volvo CE continues to lead the transition to electric machines, and the company used the BuildTech Asia 2025 event to show its progress across Asia.
The ECR25 Electric compact excavator was displayed at the event, and the company was promoting its other electric machines that are available across Asia, including:
Volvo CE’s electric construction machines are currently available in China, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, and South Korea. They represent part of Volvo CE’s commitment to sustainable construction solutions, offering zero emissions, reduced noise, and lower operational costs compared to traditional diesel-powered equipment.
Energy Efficiency Grant (EEG): a game-changer for Singapore’s construction industry
For Singaporean businesses, Volvo CE’s presence at BuildTech Asia 2025 was particularly significant now that the Energy Efficiency Grant (EEG) is available to provide financial support to help construction companies transition to energy-efficient equipment. Visitors to Volvo CE’s booth learned more about how the ECR25 Electric, L120 Electric and the L25 Electric qualify under the EEG, making an investment in electric construction machines more accessible than ever.
Jaetack Lim, Head of Market East, Volvo CE said:
“BuildTech Asia 2025 is an important platform for Volvo CE to engage with industry leaders and showcase the future of construction equipment. With the support of initiatives like the EEG grant, businesses in Singapore now have an unprecedented opportunity to transition to energy-efficient and environmentally friendly machinery. Our electric machines not only help reduce emissions but also improve operational efficiency, making sustainable construction more accessible and financially viable.”
Innovation at BuildTech Asia 2025
Volvo CE provided an immersive booth experience to visitors at BuildTech Asia 2025, with the ECR25 Electric compact excavator displayed alongside a simulator of an excavator, where attendees could experience a hands-on trial.
The booth’s visual presentation included a front backdrop showcasing Volvo CE’s electromobility range with a garage setting and EEG-qualified machines.
The Volvo CE booth also featured a Services Corner, showcasing the My Equipment App, which is a user-friendly web application designed for tracking the status of your electric machines. It allows operators to easily monitor vital data such as battery charging status and power consumption from anywhere, at any time.
