Volvo dealer Korea Sales & Service (KSS) sent a team of its most talented technicians to compete in the Volvo Masters 2024 event – and they won. The global competition included 3 rounds of testing across skills, knowledge, and teamwork covering all aspects of aftersales operations.
A team of talented technicians from Volvo dealer Korea Sales & Service (KSS), named ‘Funky Mechanics’, have been crowned the winners of the Volvo CE Masters 2024 following an intense World Final at the Customer Center in Eskilstuna, Sweden, the headquarters of Volvo CE. Throughout the competition, teams from across the global Volvo CE dealer network demonstrated remarkable dedication and skill, blending talent and passion in a competitive environment.
The exhilarating World Final kicked off at the start of May with two intense days of challenges, designed to test the contenders’ skills, knowledge, and teamwork across the entire range of Volvo CE machinery. As the teams’ expertise in aftersales operations was put to the test, the 14 teams who advanced to the World Final were assigned six tasks involving excavators, articulated haulers, wheel loaders, engines, electromobility, and used equipment. Furthermore, each task was centered on cutting-edge solutions and technologies, with electromobility and digitalisation playing a greater role than ever before.
For the first time, the World Final took place in front of a live audience and guests gathered for the Gold/Silver match between Funky Mechanics from Korea Sales & Service and SMT NL Masters from the Netherlands. The teams raced against the clock to troubleshoot issues with a wheel loader, excavator, and articulated hauler. In a back-and-forth competition marked by ups and downs, Funky Mechanics emerged victorious, much to the delight of the team and their supporters.

Construction’s ultimate challenge
Since its launch in 1990, Volvo Masters has established itself as the premier platform to showcase the skills of technicians in Volvo CE’s global dealer network. Now in its 34th year, the epic contest is respected in the industry as an exciting way to showcase the top talent working across Volvo CE’s dealer network. The competition brings different cultures and ways of working together. It is a great motivator for participants, as well as a boost to the reputation of hard-working technicians around the world.
The 2024 Volvo CE Masters competition kicked off in April last year, bringing together teams of 3-4 members from dealer aftersales departments to showcase their skills, knowledge, and expertise across all aspects of aftersales operations. Initially, 634 teams from 134 dealers worldwide entered the competition, including 61 teams from Region Asia covering Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan.
Two teams each from Europe, Asia, China, North America, Latin America, India, and Region International took part in the World Final. Representing Region Asia alongside Funky Mechanics was ‘One for All’ from Volvo CE Singapore.
Fourteen teams from Volvo dealers took part in the World Final from around the world.
