Following a limited introduction at the end of 2019, the rollout of ActiveCare in Region Asia was accelerated to selected customers and markets in September 2020. Users quickly appreciated its multiple benefits and by November 2023, Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) was able to celebrate passing the 1,000-machine mark for the region.
ActiveCare is Volvo CE’s industry-leading platform that provides 24/7 machine monitoring and utilization reports to help customers reduce downtime, minimize repair costs and ensure their equipment is in the best possible condition. The subscription-based package uses the machine’s in-built CareTrack telematics system to send information to the Volvo Uptime Center, transferring relevant data to the local dealer to assist with any maintenance or machine optimization initiatives.
The top three markets to harness ActiveCare in Asia are Indonesia, the Philippines and Singapore, with local dealer partners PT Indotruck Utama, Civic Merchandising and the company-owned Volvo CE dealer operation in Singapore providing support and insights to users of the system. Unlike in other regions, ActiveCare in Asia is not currently integrated into machines at the time of delivery which has allowed the company to better manage the rollout across the region. However, with its popularity continuing to build, much greater uptake and interest is expected in 2024 and beyond.
John Feng, Senior Product Tech Manager for ActiveCare at Volvo CE, said, “We’re so proud to pass 1,000 machines connected to ActiveCare in Asia. It’s a great testament to the strong partnership we have with our dealers in this region. Now we’ve seen the success and popularity of ActiveCare we can really start to offer it more widely, and as customers understand the benefits it provides in terms of productivity and profitability, we’re expecting it to reach a much wider audience. We’re excited to see what the future holds."
